MISSION STATEMENT
The
purpose of the Block Island Early Learning Center is to strive to
provide affordable, quality care and education for toddlers and
pre-school age children. The Block Island Early Learning Center is committed to meeting each child’s developmental needs. As such, to the best of our ability, we work with the Block Island public school to provide appropriate services.
An important goal is to accommodate family needs by offering a flexible schedule of morning and afternoon sessions. Parent involvement is welcomed and encouraged.
The Block Island Early Learning Center endeavors to:
- Offer
play-work experiences, led by trained staff, which develop young
children’s emerging literacy; math and science skills; as well as
experience in the creative arts and music and in physical activity
- Enhance and develop language skills
- Support the growth of each child’s social and emotional development while fostering confidence and respect for others
- Give
each child secure and enjoyable early learning experiences with peers,
teaching adults and community members in order to develop the child’s
sense of personal place in the larger community.
